The Kodeljevo Hall comprises a large and a small sports hall. The large hall is used by secondary schools for sports education, by the Faculty of Sport for lectures and exercises, by clubs for sports training and competitions, and by others for sport recreational activities. At the same time, the large hall is used for various cultural and entertainment events.
The small sports hall is mainly used for activities of sports clubs organising dance, taekwondo, and karate.
The grandstands of the hall hold 1370 seats.
For decades, the Kodeljevo hall has been the centre of sport in this part of Ljubljana, where many famous Slovenian athletes have been trained. Some of them took their first steps in this sports hall, others have trained there for only a few years. The home clubs of the hall are RD Slovan and KD Slovan. Handball players Uroš Zorman, Andrej Kastelic, and Ognjen Backovič, as well as basketball players Rašo Nesterovič, Jaka Lakovič, Goran, and Zoran Dragić, Jaka Blažič, Miha Zupan and Gašper Vidmar also practised their sporting skills at the Kodeljevje Arena.
Over the past 10 years, the hall has hosted matches of the Krim Mercator Handball Club in the Champions League, the final of the Spar Cup basketball event, matches of the women’s basketball and women’s handball teams, as well as international competitions in cheerleading and gymnastics.
The Kodeljevo Hall has a conference room dedicated to the memory of Marjan Rožanec, where all the recipients of the Marjan Rožanec Awards from 1992 to the present are displayed on the wall. The Marjan Rožanc Award is the highest award of the Municipality of Ljubljana in the field of sports achievemets, which can be awarded to amateur sports workers, athletes, sports educators, professional sports workers and sports journalists for outstanding sporting achievements in the previous year or for successful work over a longer period of time.
