The swimming pool complex at Kodeljevo Park has been in operation for the past 40 years. It is open from the end of June to the end of August and is a popular spot for families and young people from the surrounding areas. During the colder months, it is used for training sessions by Ljubljana clubs and associations. The complex comprises two large swimming pools and a children’s pool. There is also a grandstand next to the Olympic pool that can accommodate up to 500 spectators. The lighting system allows for evening training and water sports competitions. Additionally, there are two water slides next to the recreational swimming pool that attract families and youngsters to the pool. Children can also enjoy the playground and grass areas for ball games.
The entire Kodeljevo Swimming Pool Complex can accommodate up to 2000 visitors at a time, but to maintain safety, there are rarely more than 1500 visitors. There is a sufficient number of lifeguards on site at all times, in line with current legislation.
For each swimmer, 30 l of fresh water is provided in the pools. The water in the pools is kept at a constant temperature of between 26 and 27 °C, so that it is heated on cooler days and cooled on hot days.
Every summer, the Kodeljevo Swimming Pool Complex hosts summer swimming camps, where children learn to swim and enjoy socialising, games and other sports activities. In recent years, the swimming pool complex has been hosting a traditional international swimming meet, the Ljubljana City Cup, as well as Ljubljana water polo players playing their home matches.
As part of the Ljubljana Municipality’s annual sports programme, swimming, and water polo clubs train at the swimming pool complex in the mornings. Training takes place in the recreational pool until 09.00 a.m. and in the olympic pool until 11.00 a.m. In the afternoon, training starts at 05.00 p.m. in the olympic pool and at 07.00 p.m. in the recreational pool. In summer, swimmers also train in the olympic pool, in the morning between 06.00 and 09.00 a.m. and in the evening from 07.00 p.m. onwards. In case you are interested in swimming in the evening hours, you can do it at the Kolezija Swimming Pool Complex, where there are no sports programmes and the pool area is open until 10.00 p.m. in the high season.
During the colder months, from October to June, the swimming pool is used for training swimmers, water polo players and divers, as well as for group recreational activities. Due to the cooler temperatures, the pool is covered, which means that a canvas roof (balloon) is placed over the large Olympic-sized swimming pool and part of the stands, which, among other things, makes it easier to maintain a constant temperature of around 26 °C in the pool and 28 °C in the air. Sports training can take place in either 50 m or 25 m lanes. The covered pool’s grandstand can accommodate 200 spectators.

Information for visitors: In order to ensure that the swimming pools close on time, lifeguards will ask visitors to leave the swimming pool area at least 15 minutes before closing time.
