The Stanežiče Golf Centre offers several activities, including golf, footgolf and cross-country skiing.
GOLF
The Golf Centre on the outskirts of the city, more precisely in Stanežiče, offers a pleasant recreational experience for all generations of golfers, golf schools of Ljubljana clubs, and beginners in the sport. The course has two artificial practice greens and nine short holes (pitch and putt) with distances between 45 and 155 metres. The more experienced players are also welcome to practise the short game. Long shots can be practised on one of the longest practice fields in Slovenia, which can be used for shots up to 300 metres long. The training ground is partially covered and can accommodate up to 25 players at a time.
The facility was built in line with the objectives of the “Stanežiče Youth Golf Centre” project. The project is co-financed by the Sports Foundation of the Republic of Slovenia and the Public Institute Šport Ljubljana. The decision to build this facility was taken because none of the golf courses in the Ljubljana area has an offer that is primarily aimed at younger players. One of the reasons for such a facility is the growing interest in golf in Ljubljana and Slovenia, as Slovenia has a number of successful young golf players.
Available courses include beginner golf courses as part of the Slovenia Plays Golf project, a beginner golf course for students, advanced courses, a practice course for seniors and a holiday programme for children. The Stanežiče Golf Centre also hosts golf tournaments.
For anyone who would like to try out the beginner steps of this wonderful game in the great outdoors, there’s equipment available for rent.
FOOTGOLF
The Stanežiče Golf Centre dedicates its course to Footgolf every Tuesday from 05.00 p.m. onwards. Footgolf is a new and exciting sport that combines the rules of football and golf. Instead of using a golf ball, players use a football, which they hit with their foot just like in a game of football. The objective is to aim the ball at a hole, which is slightly over 50 cm in diameter, similar to golf. However, in Footgolf, the distances between the holes are shorter as a football cannot be hit as far as a golf ball. The game is faster, more accessible and does not require expensive equipment, making it a great option for everyone to try out.
To play footgolf, you must pre-register, as the court has to be adapted for this purpose. Footgolf can be played by everyone or in a group of up to four people. The game lasts about an hour and a half, depending on how fast the individuals play. Suitable footwear for the game is artificial turf sports shoes.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
In winter and in suitable weather conditions, a cross-country skiing track is provided on the grounds of the Stanežiče Golf Centre.
